Tellabs reports $408 million revenue

NAPERVILLE - Tellabs reported its earnings Tuesday. For the quarter that ended Jan. 2, Tellabs had net income of $12.8 million, or 3 cents a share, up from the year-earlier period's $6.3 million, or one cent a share. Revenue was down 13 percent to $408.3 million from $469.1 million, as networking-equipment sales to telephone companies and other telecom providers weakened. Fourth-quarter earnings were positively impacted by a tax benefit. For the year, Tellabs revenue totaled $1.7 billion, down 10 percent from $1.9 billion in 2007.
