Former boxer LeDoux diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease

Former heavyweight boxer Scott LeDoux has Lou Gehrig's disease.

The 60-year-old LeDoux confirmed in an interview with The Associated Press that he has the condition, also known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

It's a normally fatal disease that cripples the body and takes away the ability to speak, but LeDoux says he won't let the diagnosis stop him from living a full life. LeDoux was diagnosed in August.

He has continued his work as a commissioner in Anoka County - a suburban county north of Minneapolis - and as executive director of the Minnesota Combative Sports Commission.

LeDoux is a lifelong Minnesotan who fought George Foreman, Larry Holmes and Ken Norton in the 1970s and early 1980s.
