Relay For Life kickoff
Cancer survivors and their families and friends will kickoff the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Aurora from 5 to 8 tonight at Eden Supportive Living Center, 311 S. Lincolnway in North Aurora. Anyone who wishes to form a team or volunteer is invited. The event celebrates the lives of those with cancer and remembers loved ones who have died. Relay for Life will be held from 6 p.m. May 15 to 6 a.m. May 16 at McCullough Park in Aurora. Call the American Cancer Society at (630) 879-9009 or visit relayforlifeaurora.com.
High school prep
Geneva High School has its eighth-grade Parent Night at 7 p.m. Thursday in Viking Commons at the school, 416 McKinley Ave. It will provide information about the departments and progression of courses, and services provided by the counseling department. Charity grants available
The United Way of Central Kane County has money available for local 501(c)(3) charitable agencies. For an application, call (630) 377-1930 or e-mail stcuw@yahoo.com. Applications are due Feb. 20. Organizations that serve residents of St. Charles, Elburn, Geneva, LaFox, Kaneville, Campton Hills and Wasco are eligible.
Kindergarten preview
Batavia public schools will have kindergarten preview sessions Feb. 25 at H.C. Storm, Grace McWayne and Louise White elementary schools, and Feb. 26 at Alice Gustafson, Hoover-Wood and J.B. Nelson schools. Children must be 5 on or before Sept. 1, 2009, to enroll this fall. For details, visit bps101.net.
