Armed robberies in Gurnee, Waukegan
Gurnee police are seeking a suspect in an armed robbery they say occurred about 6:05 p.m. Sunday at Country Inn & Suites, 5420 Grand Ave.
Police said the man entered the hotel lobby and placed a black duffel bag on a counter and directed a desk clerk to place cash inside of it. Police said the suspect had a large carving knife with a black handle.
The man fled after the clerk put an undisclosed amount of cash in the bag. The suspect was described as a man with a light complexion, late 30s to early 40s, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall and 215 to 225 pounds.
He was wearing a black ski mask, black puffy winter coat, light blue jeans and latex gloves. The clothing was described as dirty.
Gurnee police said a similar robbery occurred at the Midlane Golf Resort on Yorkhouse Road in Waukegan about 10:35 p.m. Sunday. The Midlane robber carried a knife and had a similar look to the Gurnee bandit.
