Buffalo Grove bounces back with victory

Buffalo Grove's boys basketball team had a tough road this week.

The Bison had already lost at Driscoll on Tuesday and at Hersey on Saturday. On Sunday afternoon they headed into Chicago to face Lindblom in the Conference Challenge Classic at Loyola University's Gentile Center.

But BG (13-6) overcame the obstacle of a 2-point deficit after three quarters to pull out a 45-41 victory.

"I was pleased with the energy we played with," said BG coach Ryan O'Connor. "We had a long week with finals week and three games. There were a lot of factors in there where it would have been easy to go through the motions and we didn't do that."

Kevin Mulligan led the Bison with 11 points, and Nick Prus scored all 9 of his points in the second half and hit a pair of 3-pointers. James Hurley scored 7 points and Mike Cornely had 6 points and had a big impact rebounding.

"We kind of hung in there and we were able to take care of the ball and get to the free-throw line," O'Connor said of BG's 12-for-17 accuracy in the final eight minutes.
