Academic foundation thanks supporters

The Geneva Academic Foundation would like to thank those in our community who so graciously supported our efforts this past year, particularly local business owners, volunteers, and educators and parents of Geneva students.

Because of your support, we were able to distribute $69,000 back to our schools to help fund much-needed equipment and supplies. Items funded or partially funded may be seen on our Web site under "grants" at www.gafgeneva.org. This was a very successful year for GAF, and we appreciate all the support you have given us both in the last year and in years past.

Since our inception 20 plus years ago, Geneva Academic Foundation has raised more than $960,000 for our schools. This is due in large part to one of our original co-founders, Warren "Bud" Gilligan. We were very sad to learn that Mr. Gilligan passed away recently. Without Mr. Gilligan's vision, GAF might not exist and be the great organization that it is today.

Thank you in advance to all who have helped bring about the upcoming GAF-co-sponsored event "Dancing With The Geneva Stars" to be held Feb. 7, including our co-sponsor the Geneva Cultural Arts Commission.

Finally, I would like to thank all of our wonderful members whose selfless volunteering and donations have helped make Geneva Academic Foundation a success.
