Police: Mother and infant found dead

Chicago police say a mother and her infant daughter have been fatally shot in an apartment on the city's near South Side.

Chicago police spokeswoman Monique Bond says a family member found both bodies around 6 p.m. on Saturday and reported it to authorities.

Bond says officers found another child in the apartment who was unharmed.

The Cook County medical examiner has identified the deceased woman as 24-year-old Nova Henry. Her 9-month-old daughter was identified as Ava Henry.

Chicago police say the case is being investigated as a double homicide.

No one has been charged in the case.
