2 cops fired by Chicago Police Board
The Chicago Police Board has dismissed two veteran police officers.
Records show one was fired after the board concluded she had a relationship with a convicted felon. Another officer was fired after authorities determined he beat a handcuffed suspect.
Karen Oaks was a 12-year-veteran of the department. The board said that she had a relationship with a convicted felon between 2002 and 2005.
Oaks attorney Dan Tiernan argued that his client knew the felon but didn't have an inappropriate relationship.
Larry Guy Jr. was dismissed after the board said he beat a handcuffed shoplifting suspect in June 2005.
Records show suspect told the 14-year-veteran officer that he had nothing in his pockets. But when Guy searched the suspect, he was cut by a razor in the suspect's pocket.
