Parking deck stair work

Naperville public works crews will begin work Monday, Jan. 26, to replace stairs in the stairwells at the Central Parking Facility, located between Chicago Avenue and Jefferson Avenue east of Washington Street. One of the two stairwells located in the deck will be available for use at all times during construction. Plans are to replace the north stairs first. Directional signs will guide deck users to those stairs that are available for use. Work is expected to be complete by April 1.

Group hires fundraiser

The South East Association for Special Parks & Recreation has hired Lisa Rasin as its fund development coordinator. Rasin has strong ties to the business community having just completed a six-year term on the board of the Downers Grove Area Chamber of Commerce, where she served one year as chairman. She also has served on the board of Indian Boundary YMCA and is a member of the Downers Grove Kiwanis Club.

School hearing continued

After almost four hours of public comment this week, the Glen Ellyn plan commission once again continued the discussion on a Montessori school to a special meeting on Feb. 5. The Diamante Montessori School wants to move to a facility at 625 Hillside Ave. that was left open after Christ Church vacated the property. Area residents say traffic created by the school will be detrimental to the neighborhood. The plan commission held a public hearing earlier in the month, and several residents still have not had a chance to speak. The meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 5 at the Civic Center, 535 Duane St., Glen Ellyn.
