Rose not sure if he'll take part in NBA skills challenge

Bulls guard Derrick Rose confirmed that he's been invited to participate in the NBA skills challenge during all-star weekend, but he hasn't decided if he'll participate.

This contest generally features guards running through an obstacle course of sorts that includes passing accuracy and dribbling speed.

Utah's Deron Williams won the event last year, beating out New Orleans' Chris Paul, Miami's Dwyane Wade and Dallas' Jason Kidd, who played for New Jersey at the time.

"I'd like to play in it, but I don't know yet," Rose said Thursday. "(It depends on) how busy I am and just the way I feel."

BG and Vinny argue: There was an obvious disagreement between guard Ben Gordon and coach Vinny Del Negro following Thursday's practice at the Berto Center.

The exact nature of their discussion wasn't clear, but after Del Negro finished speaking to the media, Gordon approached holding a single sheet of paper and was clearly agitated. The pair eventually retreated toward the locker room to discuss the matter. It's possible Gordon was fined by the team for a rules violation.

Gooden still out: Drew Gooden did not practice Thursday due to a lingering groin strain and is very unlikely to play tonight against Toronto. Coach Vinny Del Negro said Gooden went to a doctor Thursday morning.

This injury first occurred in the loss to Portland on Jan. 12, but Gooden sat out the end of last season with the same malady, which has obviously caused the Bulls some concern.

Rose sees future: Since it's obvious the Bulls plan to build their team around Derrick Rose, the rookie point guard was asked Thursday what kind of players he'd like to have surrounding him.

"Players that play hard and smart," Rose answered. "Mentally ready for the game and nice guys. You have to play with good teammates. Big men would help a lot. But I love playing with people who play hard."
