Carpentersville man charged with child sex assault

Bail is set at $500,000 for a Carpentersville man charged Thursday with sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl.

Nestor Perez, 20, of the 100 block of Golfview Lane, is charged with three counts of predatory criminal sexual assault and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

According to the Kane County State's Attorney's Office, Perez knew the girl and assaulted her Aug. 1, 2007, at her home.

Perez has no criminal history in Kane County other than traffic offenses, court records show. If convicted of predatory criminal sexual assault, a Class X felony, he could face to six to 30 years in prison.

Perez, who remained in custody Thursday at the Kane County jail, is due in court Feb. 5.
