Brothers indicted in restaurant killings

CLAYTON, Mo. -- Two Illinois brothers are now indicted for their alleged roles in last year's slayings of two workers at a Missouri restaurant.

A grand jury in Missouri's St. Louis County charged 20-year-old Anthony Akins, Jr. and 19-year-old Oundr'e Akins of Cahokia, with two counts each of first-degree murder. They're also accused of armed criminal action and robbery.

Prosecutors allege the brothers killed 24-year-old cook Mark Gerstner and 44-year-old waitress Tammy Cantrell in November inside the Steak 'n Shake restaurant where the victims were working.

Authorities say the robbery netted less than $200, and that the suspects had worked at that restaurant until about six months before the killings.

The brothers are jailed in St. Louis County.
