Despite tough times donations continue

The falling economy has posed serious challenges to many agencies, government bodies and households. There does not seem to be a ready resolution to the hardship impacting many lives for the near term.

In light of this shrinking economic picture, it is amazing that over the recent holiday season, including the Thanksgiving season prior, Libertyville Township has been the trusted recipient of an extraordinary level of support from the community.

Our many contributors consist of senior citizens, birthday party youngsters, concerned individuals, clubs, churches, businesses, civic organizations, homeowner associations, villages, libraries, fire departments, schools, scouting groups, grocery stores and restaurants, to name a few.

All of these entities in Libertyville Township have bent their efforts to assist with donations of food and funds to help the needs of township families. The response has been overwhelming and heartfelt.

So on behalf of all of us who are privileged as staff to serve the township residents, along with the many volunteers who assist our food pantry, we thank all of you who have provided additional food and support with unbelievable generosity of spirit for our neighbors.

Hardship continues beyond holidays, of course, but we will continue efforts to meet the need, knowing our fellow citizens care as we do. Thank you to all and Happy New Year.
