Renaming road a waste of money

I am disappointed whenever our state lawmakers take a current road, street or highway and decide to rename it, as it is not being a good steward of our Illinois tax dollars.

Whether it be renaming a street after President Kennedy or Martin Luther King, we should only name a completely new street after anyone so we are not wasting the money and expense of new signs and labor to put up those new signs when we already have resources spent on the current signs.

Sustainable communities are what some people want these days. Using our resources wisely. Too much energy, money and raw materials are wasted when our lawmakers decide to change perfectly good signs in order to honor many noteworthy people.

Let's face it, the State of Illinois is broke. Name new streets that don't have any signs yet after noteworthy people. It is the sustainable community thing to do.
