Sinatra impersonator at Founders' Day brunch

The 11th Annual Founders' Day Brunch kicks off Elgin Community College's 60th anniversary celebrations. The theme is "Vintage 1949" and features a Frank Sinatra impersonator, a champagne reception and an upscale gourmet menu.

Facts: 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, at Elgin Community College's Fox Valley University and Business Center, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. Tickets are $75 and advance registration is required. (847) 214-7377.

Lunar New Year

Some Asians take umbrage when you refer to the Lunar New Year as "Chinese New Year." So go Pan-Asian for this year's holiday at Kohan Japanese Restaurant, which treats its guests to a complimentary Korean rice cake soup (believed to help add an extra year to your life).

Cruise locally
