Saving the moment: There's no shortage of inaugural merchandise

Barack Obama's face might be on more merchandise than Elvis Presley's or Mickey Mouse's.

Today's historic inauguration seems to have created an insatiable demand for Obama products, and recession-weary retailers and entrepreneurs are happy to provide it. Lots of it.

We featured a few unique Obama items in last week's column. But it was just the tip of the iceberg.

Some of the other unusual, Obama-inspired products now on the market:

• Paste Magazine is free offering "Obamicons" to anyone who registers on their site. That means you can put your face, and the word of your choice, on the iconic Obama "Hope" print by artist Shepard Fairey that ran on the cover of Time magazine. Go to obamiconme.pastemagazine.com/.

• Knowing the Obama family likes having Scrabble tournaments, the people at Fundez put together a "Scrabble: The Presidential Edition" that includes an Obama card. ($29.95 at Barnes & Noble stores)

• Topps has made a 90-card collector set of Obama trading cards that documents his life from birth to the White House. (A six-card pack plus a sticker is $1.99 at topps.com.)

• The new "Change is Now" CD and DVD set includes eight of Obama's most famous speeches - including his election night victory speech in Grant Park - and 18 songs by artists like Stevie Wonder, Will.i.am, Death Cab for Cutie, James Taylor and Common. • Zazzle.com's "inauguration center" is selling more than 100,000 inauguration products (yes, 100,000). Among them: real postage stamps commemorating the inauguration ($24.20 for a sheet of 20, 42-cent stamps), Obama slip-on shoes ($66.95) and greeting or notecards featuring a photograph of Barack and Michelle dancing together ($3.50).
