Teen charged with murder of shoe salesman
Authorities say a Chicago teenager has been charged with first-degree murder in last April's fatal shooting of a traveling shoe salesman on the city's South Side.
Police say Sunday's charges against 17-year-old Quintin Lewis were preceded by months of investigation and questioning of witnesses.
The victim, 32-year-old Otis Townsend III, of Chicago, was shot while sitting in his vehicle outside an address where he was planning to sell some shoes.
In addition to selling shoes, Townsend worked as a gym teacher at two elementary schools associated with the Academy of St. Benedict the African in Englewood. He had worked for the Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago for about five years.
