Daley: Blagojevich has to make his own decision to resign
WASHINGTON -- Chicago Mayor Richard Daley says he hasn't called on embattled Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich to resign because the governor has to make his own decision.
In an interview with The Associated Press, Daley says that there are too many people telling Blagojevich what to do and if he resigns, it has to be his own decision.
Blagojevich faces federal charges for allegedly trying to trade Obama's vacant U.S. Senate seat for money or favors, among other wrongdoing. Blagojevich has been impeached by Illinois lawmakers and a Senate trial is scheduled for later this month.
Blagojevich has denied any wrongdoing.
Daley is in Washington, D.C., for Barack Obama's inauguration.
