Antioch's defense shuts down Lakes

Antioch's girls basketball team put together its second straight stellar game defensively.

The Sequoits defeated host Lakes 52-20 in North Suburban Prairie Division action Friday night, limiting the Eagles to only 3 points in the first half.

Antioch (8-8, 3-3) led 13-3 after one quarter, with Mary Doupis hitting a 3-pointer for Lakes' only basket, then outscored the Eagles 10-0 in the second quarter.

Allie Anttila led a balanced scoring attack for Antioch with 8 points. Jen Totten and Katrina Holm each had 7. In total, 12 Sequoits scored.

Doupis led Lakes with 7 points.

Antioch had allowed just 30 points in a three-point loss to Grant on Thursday.

Huntley 75, Grayslake Central 65: Katelynn Putkonen scored 17 points for the host Rams in the Fox Valley Fox Division contest.

Grayslake Central (10-7, 1-1) also received 13 points from Alex Scarbro and 11 from Maddy Miller.

Huntley (10-8, 2-0) was led in scoring by Carly Goede with 17 points.
