Cops: Shots fired at car repossessors

Two men and a woman attempting to repossess two cars in Hoffman Estates fled after one had a gun pointed at him and later heard gunfire, police said.

Police were in the process Thursday of obtaining an arrest warrant for the man they say shot a revolver six times outside his residence on the 1900 block of Brighton Road, said Lt. Rich Russo.

No one was injured in the incident, which began about 8:45 p.m. Tuesday.

After the three repossession company workers hooked up the first car to the tow truck, one of the men knocked on the door to get the keys. No one answered but he saw people inside, police said.

He began walking back toward the tow truck when a man came out of the residence, pointed a gun at the man's head and demanded he release the car.

The man agreed, but instead jumped into the tow truck and sped away with the car. The three employees heard six shots and saw the suspect pointing the gun at the them, police said.

Police determined the suspect used the second car to flee. No gun was recovered and a revolver doesn't produce shell casings.
