Judson hires coaches for golf, tennis
Judson University announced Thursday the hiring of coaches for men's and women's golf and men's and women's tennis. The school announced late last week it will add those sports this fall.
Chris Watson, a 2001 Judson graduate who has been associated with the school since his graduation, will take over the men's and women's golf programs.
Watson has worked at the Aurora Country Club and has caddied in the Western Open and the Ameritech Senior Open PGA events. He has been involved with Judson as the PA announcer for men's and women's basketball games and is a sales and marketing consultant. He played four years of baseball and one year of men's soccer for the Eagles.
"Chris Watson is an alumnus that has continued to support Judson athletics since the day he graduated," said Judson athletic director Nancy Binger. "That combined with his experience as a Judson athlete and his excellent golf skills formulates a great fit to add to our staff. I'm excited to see how Chris uses his skills to build an outstanding golf program."
Meanwhile, Art Stueber was named the new men's and women's tennis coach. Stueber, who will be the first men's tennis player to be inducted into the Judson Athletic Hall of Fame next weekend, was the school's Male Athlete of the Year for 1991-92.
"Being able to hire Art Stueber to bring back our tennis program is storybook," said Binger. "Having the best tennis player in Judson's history back to start our program up again is ideal. I know that Art will be passionate to create a respectable and successful program."
