SCE names Hall of Fame inductees
St. Charles East has announced its 2009 inductees to the St. Charles East Fighting Saints Hall of Fame.
The Jodie Harrison Lifetime Achievement Award Recipients are Tim Carlson, class of 1992; Matt Bartlett, class of 1988; Casey Dodson, class of 1996; and Bill Ryan, Class of 1970.
Carlson, the 1991 state golf champion, was a 4-year varsity letter winner in golf,
a member of NHS and student council who helped lead the Saints to third place in state in 1988, 1989 and 1990.
As senior team captain, Carlson led the Saints to the 1991 state title. He's the only Saint to win the state title, doing it with a score of 150.
Carlson received an athletic scholarship to Rice University and lettered 4 years, from 1993-1997. There he was a Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar in 1996 and 1997 and Western Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete Award winner in 1996 and 1997.
Bartlett, class of 1988, won a state wrestling title in 1987. He was a four-year letterman who took the title at 98 pounds in 1987 and was runner-up at 112 pounds in 1988.
A 3-time varsity captain, after graduation in 1988 he held five career records and 5 single season records. His career record was 115-26-1, and he was a member of the 1988 team Illinois against team Indiana All-Star Meet. He was the first Saint to 100 wins and first two-time all-stater.
Bartlett also was a 2-time All-American Greco-Roman High School Wrestler, and a varsity letter-winner at West Point Academy from 1988-1992. He served 6 years in U.S. Army Infantry.
Casey Dodson, Class of 1996, was a 3-time basketball varsity letter-winner from 1994-1996. He led the Saints to the supersectional in 1995, and the varsity had a 66-20 record during his career.
Dodson made the Upstate Eight All-Conference first team in 1995 and 1996 and the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association All-Star selection in 1996.
A General Management graduate from the United States Military Academy 2001, Dodson won the Bronze Star Medal Recipient in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Ryan, a 3-sport athlete, made the all-state basketball team in 1970, was
all-conference football first team in 1969, and voted most valuable back and co-captain of 1969 football team.
Ryan also won the Joe Gaffney athlete of the year in 1970, earned 6 letters with the Saints and attended Millikin University to continue his basketball career.
