Geneva railroad work

The maintenance work on the Third Street railroad crossing in Geneva has been rescheduled for Friday and Saturday. The crossing will close at 6 a.m. Friday, but pedestrian access will be maintained. For details, call the Union Pacific Railroad at (630) 562-7185.

Clerk's office closing

The Kane County Clerk's Office will be closed Monday for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The office at 719 S. Batavia Ave., Geneva, reopens with regular business hours at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. Call (630) 232-5950.

Geneva band dinner

The Geneva High School band and orchestra departments will have a fundraising dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Jan. 21 at the school. Tickets are $6 per person and children 5 and younger eat free. Ticket orders and payments are due at the main office Thursday. Dinner includes mostaccioli, salad, bread, beverage and dessert. Call (630) 463-3983.

Founders Day Brunch

Elgin Community College will hold a 60th Anniversary Founders Day Brunch on its main campus, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin, at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 25. The meal will begin with a champagne reception and includes live entertainment, an awards ceremony and prizes. Funds raised support student financial aid and instructional programs. Pool helpers sought

Volunteers are needed for Delnor-Community Hospital's Orthokids aquatic exercise class. The therapeutic class is designed for children with neurological and orthopedic conditions who benefit from the properties of warm water to maximize movement and facilitates independence. Volunteers should be high school age and older. The program is held from 4:15 to 5 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays Jan. 26 to March 5. There will be a one-hour orientation at 4 p.m. Jan. 20 and 22 in the Health and Wellness Center cafe, 296 Randall Road, Geneva. Call Jennifer Simmons at (630) 208-5510.
