Central Park open house
Naperville residents can give their input on three concept plans for improvements to Central Park during an open house at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, at the municipal center, 400 S. Eagle St. The park is on Benton Avenue just east of Washington Street. Following the open house, the plans will be presented to the Downtown Advisory Commission at 6 p.m. Jan. 22 at the municipal center. The final plan document will go before both the city council and park board for review in late spring.
Crosswalk signals installed
Naperville has installed its first Accessible Pedestrian Signal at the intersection of Chicago Avenue and Ellsworth Street. The device will produce a continual chirping locating tone to guide visually impaired individuals to the push button. Once pushed, the button will vibrate and provide verbal guidance on when to cross a particular street. The intersection was chosen as a test location for the device due to its proximity to North Central College. If successful, Naperville may install similar devices at select crosswalks throughout the city.
