St. Charles Police nab another sex offender

St. Charles Police say they arrested their fourth sex offender in the past five months for violating court-mandated registration requirements during ongoing routine checks of sex offender status in the city.

Police arrested Brian R. Howard, 24, of the 200 block of North Randall Road in St. Charles, just days after he competed his annual registration with the police department as required. During the registration, Howard listed a 2003 Jaguar as his only vehicle. However, detectives performed a residence check on Howard after the annual registration and found a white, 2000 Ford pickup truck and a 1990 Ford pickup truck owned and being used by Howard. Failure to register those vehicles is a Class 2 Felony.

Police arrested Howard without incident after confirming both vehicles are registered to Howard with the Illinois Secretary of State's office.

Howard was originally convicted of a possession of child pornography in 2006.

As of Saturday, Howard had posted bond and was released from the Kane County jail pending his next court date.

Other recent arrests of sex offenders violating their registration requirements in the city lately include a sex offender charged with living too close to a day care center, a sex offender who failed to tell police he'd lost his job and a sexual predator who failed to renew his registration at all.
