Man charged in Rolling Meadows bank robbery
Police have arrested a 32-year-old Hoffman Estates man in connection with a Rolling Meadows bank robbery that occurred on Jan. 5.
The man, David J. Wagner, was arrested on Thursday for the robbery of the Fifth Third Bank at Algonquin and New Wilke roads, officials said. He was then turned over to the FBI and charged on Monday in the U.S. District Court in Chicago with one count of bank robbery, according to an FBI news release. He was being held without bond.
According to Rolling Meadows police, Wagner entered the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money. A weapon was implied but not shown, police said.
The robber put the cash in a white plastic bag and ran from the bank southbound on foot. He was seen entering a newer, four-door black sedan near New Wilke Road and Chateau, police said.
A woman with blond hair was seen sitting in the driver's seat until the robber entered the car and took over driving the car. Authorities said the car drove south through an office complex toward Golf Road.
