Loyola to assist shoe drive
Loyola University head coach Jim Whitesell and his men's basketball program are sponsoring a shoe drive this week at two Ramblers home games to benefit the Samaritan's Feet program, a nonprofit organization that distributes the shoes for needy children around the world.
Loyola will play No. 17 Butler on Thursday and Valparaiso on Saturday. Fans are being asked to donate a new pair of shoes.
"This is a great initiative to help out needy children throughout the world," Whitesell said. "This is a wonderful project that coaches across the country have embraced."
Fans and students will be able to drop off in new shoes bins in the lobby of the Gentile Center at the games.
