FBI charges man in Aurora bank robbery
Police announced the arrest of a 27-year-old man in connection with an Aurora bank robbery 10 days ago.
Shauntel L. Andrews of Aurora is accused of entering the Associated Bank at 301 W. Galena Blvd. on Jan. 2 with a handgun, placing a duffel bag on a counter and ordering the teller to put money in the bag, police said.
Andrews fled the scene, and a bank audit shows the robber made off with $5,263, officials said.
Three days later, Aurora police received a tip that Andrews had confessed to robbing the bank to relatives.
The FBI, along with other police agencies, executed a search warrant for Andrews' home on the 900 block of Bishop Avenue, police said.
Police discovered the handgun believed to be the one used in the robbery, a mask believed to have been worn in the robbery and $20 bills that appeared to have been stolen from the bank.
