Geneva blasts Sycamore by 40

It was relative close for a half, but Sycamore had no answers for Geneva after the intermission.

The Vikings' girls basketball team put on a yet another withering defensive display, holding the Spartans to single digits in the second half in Western Sun Conference action, and cruising to a 68-28 win Friday night in Geneva.

The Vikings' latest one-sided win extended their season-opening winning streak to 17 overall and seven at the midpoint of the conference slate.

"It was only an 11-point lead (32-21) at the half," Geneva coach Gina Nolan said.

The peerless backcourt of Emily Hinchman and Taylor Whitley once again proved unstoppable. Hinchman led all players with 19 points, and Indiana State-bound Whitley added 15 to pace the rout.

"Emily had a great game for us, getting steals and converting them into layups," Nolan said.
