Aurora Central tops IC, now 14-1

Mike Adams and Anthony Kelley picked up where they left off.

The Aurora Central Catholic duo combined for 37 points to lead the Chargers to a 69-58 victory over Immaculate Conception in Suburban Catholic Conference boys basketball action in Aurora Friday night.

"They really play well together," said ACC coach Nate Drye, whose team improved to 14-1 overall and flawless in the league at 7-0.

IC senior post Matt Purdom scored 16 of his game-high 26 points in the opening half, but the Chargers' nine-point first-quarter deficit was reversed with a defensive-minded second-quarter run fuelled by Kelley.

"Anthony got a lot of points off transition," Drye said. "He was able to get out and run the floor. We got off to a real slow start."

Adams' 20 points led the Chargers; Kelley finished with 17, and Joey Guth and Nick Czaja were also in double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
