Thanks for keeping Mundelein fire-free

On behalf of the officers and members of the Mundelein Fire Department we would like to thank the residents of Mundelein for having a safe and uneventful holiday season. Each year the fire department participates in the Illinois Fire Chief's Association "Keep the Wreath Red" program, which emphasizes fire safety during the period of Dec. 1 to Dec. 31. A wreath with red lights illuminated is posted in the front of each fire station and if a fire occurs, one of the red bulbs is changed to white. We are happy to say that both of our fire stations enjoyed not having to change any of the bulbs to red this past holiday season.

Fire prevention is a partnership and throughout the year we encourage safe practices around the home and at work. Holidays tend to be more hectic and involve gatherings and celebration lending to more opportunities for mishaps and unfortunate events. Tragic events such as fire truly do affect neighborhoods and the community as a whole. Through your focus on prevention and being attentive to fire-safe practices, Mundelein as a whole enjoys this time together with our families and friends that much more.

We encourage you to continue to keep up the hard work and to continue to enjoy the rest of the winter months as we shiver, awaiting the warmth of spring, which is hopefully just around the corner.

Thank you again and make every day a fire-safe day.

Chief T.E. Sashko and the members of the Mundelein Fire Department
