Governor was right to name Burris

In hearing of the appointment of Roland Burris to President-elect Obama's Senate seat, my first thought was, he is a good choice. His merits politically are solid and he is a man of integrity. He should be appointed.

If the politicians are really worried about what is best for Illinois, they will certify the appointment. Patrick Fitzgerald gets my vote for the smartest man in this mess. By issuing the criminal complaint against the governor he saves Illinois from a corrupt act of selling our Senate seat to the highest bidder. The complaint has started a deserved impeachment process against the governor, which can only help his case; but also has put enormous pressure on the governor to do, finally, the right thing. And so he has!

This turn of events also saves Illinois from a costly special election. Illinois wins with an appointment of Roland Burris, let him serve his two years for Illinois.
