Financial workshop offered at Immanuel Lutheran
"More Than Money Matters," an interactive, values-based money management workshop, will be offered from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Sundays, Jan. 11 to Feb. 15 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 310 E. Main St. in East Dundee.
The workshop, developed by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, will be presented by Nancy Winterburg, congregational relationship manager, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans - Chicagoland Region.
"More Than Money Matters" starts with a foundation of stewardship. Attendees will learn how to identify what's most important in their lives and set goals. They will also learn how to make sharing, saving and spending decisions in line with personal values and use basic management tools to help budget, reduce debt and find money to save.
The six sessions include:
• Stewardship and Values - Define what stewardship means to you, identify your values and align how you share, save and spend your money.
• Communicating About Money - Provides tools to help you effectively communicate about money with your spouse, children, financial professionals and others.
• Setting Goals - Highlights the importance of setting goals, how to calculate the cost of your goals, as well as learning techniques for managing pressure to spend.
• Credit and Debt - Learn how overusing credit or having too much debt can prevent you from achieving your goals. You'll also learn how to reduce your debt.
• Finding Money to Save - Focuses on helping you develop skills to find money to save. You'll learn specific ways to increase your income and decrease your spending, as well as how to develop a savings plan.
