County committees named

McHenry County Board Chairman Ken Koehler is scheduled to announce Tuesday important assignments for the board's 10 existing committees and one new committee. Among the decisions facing Koehler will be whom to appoint to lead the board's new committee addressing environmental and water issues, and who will replace outgoing chairmen of the board's Transportation, Law and Justice and Valley Hi committees. Although final decisions are made by the full county board, most of the work affecting those decisions is done at the committee level. Koehler will make the assignments when the full county board meets at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the McHenry County Administration Building, 667 Ware Road, in Woodstock.

District 300 launches tip line

Community Unit District 300 now has a safety tip line that allows students, staff, parents and local residents to anonymously report safety issues at District 300 schools. The line can be reached 24 hours a day by calling (847) 551-8477 (TIPS). Messages can be left in English or Spanish. The tip line should only be used to report situations that do not pose an immediate threat to the safety of District 300 students or staff. District 300's safety officer, Gary Chester, will be notified when a message is left on the tip line.

Park district to host bingo

The Huntley Park District is hosting bingo for park district residents 55 and older. Bingo will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Jan. 6, Feb. 3, March 3 and April 7. The free games will be hosted in the REC Center, 12015 Mill St. Refreshments will be provided. Call (847) 669-3180 for more information.
