No defending Bush's legacy
It is said that President Bush approved the loan to the Big Three automakers because he didn't want the collapse of the auto industry to be part of his legacy.
Unfortunately for President Bush, his legacy will always be defined by his disastrous decision to invade Iraq. It will soon be six years since the invasion of Iraq and the cost has been staggering: more than 4,000 U.S. troops killed; 29,000 injured and of those injuries about 45 percent serious; $800 billion with the final cost to approach $3 trillion.
It must be remembered that there are thousands of young soldiers that will require government assistance and care for the rest of their lives.
President Bush defends his decision to invade Iraq and that may be the most damning indictment of the President. He continues to say that he would make the same decision even now knowing that Iraq did not possess WMDs and certainly posed no serious threat to any other country in the region. What a tragedy.
