Preserve traditional school calendar

Some community members want to make schools into a year-round function.

The school system should remain the it currently is since it works well in its current form. As long as students do a small number of assignments over summer break, they won't suffer from what is known as "summer learning loss."

Students definitely need a break from the monotony of school, and the current system provides that. With the traditional nine month system, students learn the same amount as students in year-round education, thus meaning they learn the material quicker and are challenged in school. The school system, including district U-46, work well in the current form and should not be changed to a year-round system just because a few people believe it should.
