Four injured in accident near Mundelein

Four people were injured late Thursday after their car hit a tree near Mundelein, officials said.

The one-vehicle crash happened around 11:00 p.m. in the 27600 block of Chevy Chase Road near Mundelein , Lake County Sheriff's Police officials said.

Three people were taken via ambulance to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, while the fourth had to be extracted from the car and was flown to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge in critical condition.

Police are not releasing information about the accident until after the investigation is completed.

Mundelein and Lake Zurich fire departments were called in to assist Countryside Fire Department at the scene.
