Former NIU football player due in court
Former Northern Illinois University football player William Ikegwuonu goes to court Monday on residential burglary charges.
The 22-year-old former Huskie safety was arrested along with his brother on Nov. 25, 2006. He is accused of trying to steal a video game system from an apartment in DeKalb. Ikegwuonu was suspended from the Northern Illinois football team shortly after his arrest.
Ikegwuonu has pleaded not guilty.
The former player's brother, Jack Ikegwuonu, also was arrested. Jack Ikegwuonu played football for the University of Wisconsin-Madison at the time and was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in April.
