4 Chicago banks robbed in 1 day
It was a busy day for bank robbers across Chicago.
Authorities say four banks in different Chicago neighborhoods were robbed Tuesday. There was no early indication the robberies were linked.
Two Chase Bank branches on the North Side were targeted, as was a Metropolitan Bank on the South Side and a Northwest Side U.S. Bank.
One man got away with about $1,000. No other information about the amount taken was available.
According to the FBI, there had been 273 bank robberies in the Chicago area as of Tuesday in 2008, up from 226 last year. A record 284 were committed in 2006.
