Man killed by freight train in Lombard

The Lombard Police Department, the DuPage County Coroner and theˆ Union Pacificˆ Railroad are investigating the death of a man struck by a freight train on the Burlington Northern tracks nearˆ 244 E. St. Charles Road in Lombard late Sunday night.

The incident occurred atˆ 6:49 p.m., officials said. The individual was pronounced dead at the scene.ˆ 

Coroner officials said the male has been identified but are withholding the name pending family notification.
