Scouting: NU @ Penn. St.

Northwestern (8-2) at Penn State (11-2)

When: 11 a.m. at Bryce Jordan Center

TV: ESPN2

Radio: WGN 720-AM

Skinny: Believe it or not, Northwestern hasn't opened its Big Ten schedule with a road win since the 1968-69 season. The Wildcats and Nittany Lions enter Big Ten play with their highest hopes (collectively, if not individually) since Bill Carmody and Ed DeChellis took their respective coaching jobs. NU smacked good opponents at home and suffered narrow road losses at No. 25 Butler and No. 33 Stanford. Penn State lost its only games against good competition (on a neutral court to Rhode Island and at home to Temple). This one should come down to the guards. PSU soph Talor Battle leads the league in scoring and does everything, while running mate Stanley Pringle can get red-hot. NU's Craig Moore and Michael Thompson need to outscore them to win.
