Shaker Recruitment Consultants buys CareerSite

Shaker Recruitment Consultants, a division of Oak Park-based Shaker Recruitment Advertising & Communications, has acquired CareerSite, a Web platform that provides job recruitment for media nationwide.

For the past five years, Shaker Recruitment Consultants has provided recruitment services to publishers, using CareerSite technology to power numerous local job boards.

For over 10 years, CareerSite has provided tools for building such sites, including software, hosting, customer service, billing and merchant services, job content and distribution.

Acquiring CareerSite will allow Shaker to offer broader services as well as additional recruitment advertising options that previously were not possible, said Joe Shaker, Jr., vice president of Shaker Recruitment Consultants.

"We are very excited about the opportunities this provides. Our plan is to take CareerSite's proven technological platform and grow it to assist publishers across the country," Shaker said. "At a time when most companies are cutting back, we are looking for new ways to advance our industry and family tradition."

Since 2001, Shaker Recruitment Consultants has created numerous local online job boards, including AtlantaJobs.com, BostonJobs.com, ChicagoJobs.com, CTJobs.com, DriverJobs.com, FloridianJobs.com, IllinoisCareers.com, Jobfetch.com, RIjobs.com and SanAntonioJobs.com while partnering with more than 100 local newspapers.

The second largest privately held firm of its kind, Shaker is headquartered in Oak Park, with offices in New Jersey, Florida and New York.
