Northrop wins $468 million contract

Northrop Grumman Corp., which has operations in Rolling Meadows, won a $468 million Air Force contract to modify radar used on B-2 stealth bombers to improve communications with ground commanders and minimize potential interference with civilian radio frequencies.

The contract is the first major production award in a $1.2 billion program that was delayed about a year because of technical problems with the radar's new antenna that have been resolved. Raytheon Co.'s Space and Airborne Systems and Lockheed Martin Corp. are the major subcontractors, the Air Force said today in a statement.
