Economy is tanking; where's president?
I know George Bush is on his way out, (thank God), but does he have to completely abandon his post and go AWOL for the last 60 days of his presidency? Would it kill him to explain to the American public what measures are being tried, say, once a week?
You would think that a little pep talk, or just a reasoned explanation to the American people, (ala FDR's fireside radio chats), would go a long way during these tough economic times. Just to have someone tell us step by step, what the government is doing to alleviate some of the pressure from our hemorrhaging fiscal status as a nation.
I know I would have more respect for the man if he came on, say, every Wednesday night, or twice a week and said, "This is what we did today to try and get the economy going" or "What we tried last week didn't quite work, here's what we are gonna try now."
Instead, he is nowhere to be found to assure the American public that the stewardship awarded to him twice in the last eight years wasn't totally in vain.
