Blagojevich attorney to submit Obama report
SPRINGFIELD -- The lead attorney for Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich says he plans to submit President-elect Barack Obama's internal report on contacts with the governor to the Illinois House committee weighing impeachment.
Attorney Ed Genson said the report would support Blagojevich's claims that he hasn't done anything wrong in his handling of Obama's vacant Senate seat.
State Rep. Barbara Flynn Currie says Genson's request to submit the report would probably be approved. The House panel meets Monday.
Genson's move comes after the panel rejected his request to subpoena incoming Obama chief of staff Rahm Emanuel and senior adviser Valerie Jarrett.
Blagojevich was arrested Dec. 9 on federal corruption charges.
