Illini's Meacham shares Big Ten honors
CHAMPAIGN -- Back-to-back double-figure scoring games have earned Illinois guard Trent Meacham a share of this week's Big Ten Player of the Week honors.
Meacham scored 23 points in Illinois' 75-59 win over then-No. 25 Missouri last Tuesday. The senior followed that up with 16 points Sunday in the Illini's 62-53 win over Eastern Michigan.
Meacham shares this week's award with Michigan forward DeShawn Sims. The Wolverine forward had 20 points and 20 rebounds in Michigan's 76-59 win over Florida-Gulf Coast.
Meacham averages 12.2 points a game to lead the Illini in scoring this season. He's shooting 50 percent from the field and 3-point range.
Illinois (12-1) opens Big Ten play Tuesday at No. 9 Purdue (11-2).
