Elgin newspaper stopping Saturday edition

Sun-Times Media Group has announced that starting next month, the Courier News newspaper in Elgin will be redesigned in a tabloid format to include more local content and graphics.

The company said in a news release Friday that the new design would have more in-depth and investigative reporting and more local features. The Courier News also will publish Sunday through Friday, offering a weekend edition on Fridays.

The redesign's launch is set for Jan. 26.

Fred Lebolt is the president of Fox Valley Publications, which publishes the newspaper. Lebolt says the tabloid format will let the company "better manage our cost structure."

The Sun Times Media Group publishes the Chicago Sun-Times and some 70 community papers in the Chicago area.
