The IceHogs made it 1-0 just 23 seconds into the game when a shot by defenseman Jimmy Sharrow bounced in front of the crease and jumped over Pavelec's glove.

The Wolves tied it at 1-1 on the power play at 8:47 of the first. Sterling collected a cross-ice pass at the doorstep from Motzko and sent the puck past the skate of Rockford goaltender Corey Crawford.

Rockford regained the lead when center Nathan Davis broke away at center ice and chipped in his own rebound above the pads of Pavelec at 17:09 of the first.

Rockford went up 3-1 on the power play at 10:07 of the second period. Danny Groux ripped a one-timer from the left circle past Pavelec top shelf.

The Wolves responded 66 seconds later with Motzko's 19th goal of the season when he took a pass from Steve Martins at the left circle and fired a long wrister through traffic and behind Crawford.

Crawford finished with 30 saves on 32 shots.
