Kids, sporty cars just don't mix
As I read about the recent tragedy where two Kaneland High School students died in a crash, I can't help but think that there is always one recurring factor in these all too frequent terrible crashes. That is the car they are driving. If you look back at these all-too-frequent crashes, I'll bet you that 9 out of 10 times that the kids were driving a sporty car.
I'm sure that kids like to drive these sporty cars, and they are great on dry pavement, but the problem is that they are nothing but an engine surrounded by plastic. When you hit anything bigger than a squirrel, you could die. Do you remember just a few weeks ago when four other kids were killed when they crashed their sporty cars head on together? Nobody stood a chance in that one.
Parents, please do not buy your kids these cars. If they have them, get rid of them. They are death machines. Get them something bigger so they have a fighting chance.
