Ex-student in SIU threat case free on bond again
EDWARDSVILLE -- A former Southern Illinois University student accused of trying to threaten a deadly shooting rampage is free on bond again as he awaits trial.
Twenty-three-year-old Olutosin Oduwole (oh-loo-TOH'-sihn oh-DOO'-wawl-ee) posted an additional $100,000 bond Monday after a Madison County judge ordered it raised by that amount.
Madison County Circuit Judge Richard Tognarelli had revoked Oduwole's bond after he allegedly lied on an application to buy a handgun. But a state appeals court ordered the judge to set a new bail, ruling that Oduwole couldn't be held without bond.
Oduwole was charged in July 2007 with making a terrorist threat after police on SIU's Edwardsville campus found a note in his car that demanded $50,000 or vowed "a murderous rampage" similar to the Virginia Tech shootings.
